Hi there,

I am trying to network my laptop running Win2k to my desktop running XPpro, which I want to use as the gateway to the internet. Unfortunately both, the desktop and the laptop keep saying that there is no cable pluged. But it is.
I installed a second ethernet card on the desktop and I plugged the ethernet cable from the laptop to the desktop.
Presently I have both computers connected to the router (LynkSys), they get the internet connection that way, and they used to be able to share files. Until I installed XP. XP seems to be more cautious & strict about networking and security, so it's not allowing me to have the setup I used to have as it says is too vulnerable, and that I should use only one computer as a gateway, so this is why I'm doing this.

Any ideas, tips, and/or advise will be greatly appreciated :)

Thanks in advance,

Javier
