I am trying to get a computer to join a domain at work. I keep getting this error message that says: Your computer could not be joined to a domain because the following error has occurred. Access is denied.

If there is anyone who can put this in laymans terms, I would greatly appreciate that. This is getting very frustrating for me, and I am not sure what I am doing wrong.

Thank you,
Irma

do you have permission to add computers to the domain? it is a right assigned to users or groups, and is not assigned by default.

make sure your on the network try pinging a server etc... also I agree with the above check and make sure you have correct rights to add a pc to the domain

Well, I'm logging into the Novell Client as the user, not the Administrator, but when I log into the workstation, I'm logging in as the Administrator. Will that make all the difference?

Novell does not have domains. You need to have an account on a windows domain that has rights to connect a computer to the domain and admin rights to the local computer. I do this by logging on to the local computer as administrator then Rclick my computer, properties, computer name then network id.
