I have 3 computers connected to a NetGear Switch/Router. One is running Linux, and the other two are running windows 98se. One of the Windows boxes works fine for networking, no errors (only tcp/ip installed) My Linux box can see it no problem.
The other Windows box always gets "unable to browse the network" error when I double click on the "entire Network".

All 3 have access to the internet
I can PING all three from all three

I'm at a loss as to what to check.

The Windows box that networks and the linux box were previously networked (same router) with another computer running windows xp Home. I used the XP network setup wizard to setup the networking on the 98 box.

any suggestions would be greatly appriciated!

Try removing all the network devices/protocols etc on the problem machine, reboot and let windows reinstall networking. This was my standard method for problems like this when I used 98 seriously (worked 90% of the time).

The winsock fix in faq779-4625 is probably worth a look too.

nope didn;t fix it. But I did notice that I dont have the share tab in the folder properties dialog box.
How can I get it??

never mind.
Don't i feel like a shmuck.
I uninstalled all of the network stuff, and let windows reinstall what it wanted.
Now it all works properly!
When in doubt uninstall!
Thanks for you help.
