Just upgraded to Office2003 and now when I try and open a file on my desktop from a laptop connected to my home network I get "user does not have access privileges"
Can you browse to the laptop and browse files and folders on it?

Okay, just realised this is only happening on one shared drive. I've tried unsharing+re-sharing this drive but it doesn't seem to help. Not just Office files I've discovered, images and txt are affected too.
So you can see the files in this folder but you get the above error message when you try to open them-correct?
IF you are using Norton AV, Disable the Office Plug-in under Options In Norton
Anti Virus.

I get that error for Office files, text files give me 'Cannot open the file xy.zzz Make sure a disk is in the drive you specified.'
Image files just give 'preview not available.'
If you try to copy a file you get 'Cannot copy: access denied, make sure the disk is not full or write-protected and the file is not currently in use.'
This is where I got the above idea,
And this has only happend since you installed O2003?
Can u perhaps disable the AV temporarily?

When you right click on the folder in question on the laptop, check the properties....is it hidden...or read only....or anything like that?
Is the folder on a fixed disk, have you tried mapping a drive on the client PC to the folder then try opening the file through there?
I am running out of ideas now.
