IS-IT--Management
Hi all.
I installed 7.3 on my desktop so that I could get a look at the admin console.
As stated, it's all in Java. It can be a bit of a pig as I have seen it consume >100Mb after a while.
One of my major gripes is that when you are managing your tape library, you cannot select multiple tape drives or tapes. Correct me if I am missing something, but now if I want to unmount all of my drives, I have to issue the commands one at a time. Same goes for sending tapes to the loading slot.
Under Monitoring/Log, the log window has minimal scrollback. It was better to be able to quickly see what happened more than 30 minutes ago.
Some of the new features are nice though.
The groupings of monitor, config, devices and media make sense.
Under Monitoring, the tabs for groups, sessions, alerts, devices...etc. give you a pretty good look at running backups.
However, until the multiple select is fixed (or I figure out what I doing wrong) and the Java app becomes less of a pig, I'll keep using the old nwadmin.
