Networked drives asking for paswords after DC died

Can anyone help, One of my DC's broke today and it had dns and dhcp on. I have got a second dc which I installed dns and dhcp on this morning after the main one broke.Im now having problems now where people keep losing their connections to networked drives on a 2003 sever and when they try to run the login script it is asking them for a password on some drives, it never done this when the other dc was working. Any ideas?

Does your second DC have the global catalogue and FSMO roles assigned to it?

I have changed all the fsmo roles to the backup server but am still having problems with peoples connections dissapearing and very very slow browsing?
