Networked Database

Hi you all,
I have a shared database on a winxp machine. A win2K pc has access to the database. While everything was working ok for 2 years now, recently there is a problem. The win2K cannot open the database file. There is an error massage saying that the path or filename is incorect. When i change the filename of the database on the winxp machine it is working ok for a while (hours.. maybe days) and then the problem appears again.
I have made all registry changes

Software/Microsoft/Jet/4.0/Engines/Jet 4.0
ImplicitCommitSync should be set to yes
UserCommitSync should be set to yes

I cannot think of any other solution. Can you?

Is the machine losing connectivity to the xp machine? the randomness (is that a word?) could indicate ip adressing conflicts.
