I have a large WAN mostly Frame Relay but some VPN. I am using Cisco payload compression on all of my FR links to improve bandwidth and response times. I can not get it to work at sites that I use Avaya Media gateways.

I have 8 sites with G350 media gateways. When I turn on Cisco payload compression on the FR link the compression comes on and appears to be working normally but I can not make extension to extension calls across the network. When I call from one station to another across the WAN with compression turned on , I can see on the display of the phone the name and number of the calling party and the phone rings but there is just silence on the phone. No voice can be heard. This is the same in both directions.

Cisco says this should work. I am looking at any possible settings I should check on the Avaya side.

Can anyone offer suggestions on how to trouble shoot this problem or is anyone doing this successfully?

Thanks in advance for any help.
