I tried this on the Windows Xp Pro Forum with no response, perhaps I'll have better luck on this forum...

Not sure if this is a w2k or xp problem...however I encountered an error while accessing a networked share on a xp pc from a w2k pc. The error said (sorry this is not the exact wording) "unable to view, insufficient network storage allocated to access drive". If I access the shares on w2k from xp I have no problem, also if a access a share on another w2k pc from this pc, again I have no problem (and "no" I didn't get a chance to see if the same error occurred from the second w2k pc when it accessed the xp pc). Has anyone else seen this before and does anyone know the solution!

Cheers

Update:

The problem occurs from both w2k pc's trying to access the WinXP pc. I can see the shares on the XP pc but this takes 15 - 20 seconds for this to come up then when I click on a shares to see the contents the following error occurs:

"not enough server storage is available to process this command"

It is an IrpStackSize issue. Please see the detailed response in the XP Forum. The error is on the XP machine, not the machine showing the error.

Thx bcastner

Athought I couldn't find this in the xp forum my search came across:

thread478-578161

and

thread748-385211

...there are other threads

Both provide instructions for correcting (registry editing) the problem. Curious one thread says to create/modify the IRPStackSize to read 15 (w2k and XP), whereas the second thread says to reset to 0. Both worked for each person so I'll try each variant and let you know the outcome.

Thx bcastner

I tried searching for IRPStackSize and could only find the threads I mentioned above...sorry I thought my other post had been deleted...but from my search I was lead to the same answer, see: Thread779-653536

I couldn't get back into Tek-Tips afterwards - it seems the the site down - to let you know I found and implemented the solution.

thx again...I awarded stars for your post in the other thread!

Cheers
