network problem

i have 2 different networks, one network 10.10.0.0/16 in which i use a 1721 cisco router with ip address 10.10.22.50/16, and a second network 10.100.51.0/24 with another non cisco router with ip address 10.100.51.4/16.
i am trying to set up a configuration, so a client pc ,in first network, with ip address 10.10.1.1/16 can communicate with a server, in the second network, with ip address 10.100.51.253/24.

can anyone help me?

Its an athena delvecon router...
i dont know if u ever heard about this type of router

Never. Is it managed? Can you configure the interfaces and different networks, or is it like a plug and play Linksys type router?

the only thing you can configure is the wan interface and the ethernet interface of the router.

the ip routing table is auto-configuring

You say the second network is a /24, and you mention that the interface of such network is /16...like the nw is 10.100.51.0/24, and the interface is 10.100.51.4/16...I assume that it's a /24 and it is a typo?
Also, can you type some sort of show command in the non-cisco router to show the routing table, and does it use RIP? If it uses RIP ver 1, it won't carry subnet info over, so I don't know if you can have the networks subnetted outside of the default mask...you may have to do 192.168.xxx.xxx/24, or do what I would do---trash the non-Cisco for a Cisco!lol

I'm with butsbees. You need to find out what routing protocol that router supports, and would need to set up the Cisco device with the same protocol. I found this link, but it doesn't seem to have much technical info outside the "howto". Looks like this is Mom and Pop network company out of Canada:

Is this like a bridge only, or like a switch you can configure for frame relay? It looks a lot like what you have to do to configure a cisco for frame relay.

athena delvecon router uses rip ver 2

this type of router creates automatically the routing table

for my situation the ip route which created is :

10.10.0.0/16 10.10.22.50

10.100.51.0/24 10.100.51.4

Then it should work, as long as you use router rip, ver 2 in the Cisco. I'd still sell it on ebay for a Cisco...

you just need to add the rip configuration to the cisco and you should be good to go.
something like

router rip
version 2
network 10.0.0.0
no auto summary

then doa sho ip route and check to see if you have both routes in your table.. (the /16 and the /24)
