It shouldn't matter one wit.
If you connected to the machine which had the printer installed before you loaded the software drivers for the printer on the workstation the workstation would, most often, download the drivers from the printer server to use. This may cause problems as it may be the wrong driver.
Reinstall the driver on the workstation using the original install disks. From there simply set the print port to the network share print server point.
File and Printer Sharing must be installed and bound to the network stacks of both computers for printing to work. I would not bother setting a access password for the printer on the printer server - as a matter of fact setting one can cause some problems.
Make sure the share mode on the server is set to read/write. Make sure that the spooler settings on the workstation match that of the server - the Spool Data Format being especially critical. Your mileage may vary...
