network printing problem....

I have a laser printer connected locally to a printer. another 4 users r connected to that n/w printer. in the morning when the work starts, even if the user to which the printer is connected is not logged on, the remote printing comes. How is it possible ????????????

Ok. Gotta think about this one. Does the network cable literally go into the back of the printer? If so, who cares whether Johnny is logged in or not? If the network cable is not connected, and others are sharing the printer through network sharing to the user's hard drive, then I'm as baffled as you. Printers can, as I understand, be hooked up both ways, which is the way this one sounds. The benefit to this? Johnny's jobs probably get to the queue a little faster.

I'm just guessing that the WS is configured as a print server and that the laser printer is attached to the WS thru the parallel port. <br>

If so, the the user does not have to logon since the print server command is probably executed, as an example, when booting up in the autoexec.bat along with the other network components . As long as the WS in turned on then anybody mapped to that print server will print....<br>
