network printer issue user interventioned required

hi
i keep getting the message "user intervention required use printer offline" when i highlight a network printer in printer settings
when i right click the printer and try to uncheck the use printer offline ...no luck the tick refuses to be removed
has any body had the issue before
i can not print at all to this networked printer, i have tried loggin on with different user names but no luck

Sounds like the printer is not connecting to the network. If you can get to this printer from other computers then remove it from your computer and reinstall the drivers and reset the network connection.

hi sorry yes i can print from other pcs but not this particular pc

What type of network? Are you using IP (LPR) printing?
How is the printer setup on the network?

What OS are you using??

Try removing the printer driver then re-installing it. If your unsure of what to do, call the ssytem admin and they'll
help you out

Is this a stand alone printer or is it connected via another pc? If it is connected via another pc you may have to first log into that machine via the network.

lpr - If the printer has a cat5 cable running to it, or it is controlled via a print server box then you may well be using lpr to print to it - either directly from the machine, or just from the server.

When you add the printer to your machine, do you look for it on a server, or did you have to add a new port with an associated ip address (lpr)?
