Hi all, anyone know if I could us an ipad to network with a laptop then use the laptop to print images?

Bascially I'm an event photographer and our main tool of choice at an event is a Dell laptop with all the printers attached (it's running Vista Home Premium).
We are thinking of using Ipads as viewing terminals to allow users to view the image in a directory on the Dell then send them for printing anyone know if this would work??

In theory yes. But you may want to uses this as a cautionary tale about the iPad and files trasfers.

Personally I'd wait for an andriod version, less of a toy, more of a tool.

Thanks for the link Sympology

I've been working on a similar situation.

I Came up with a sort of web based app/service, that you can access from you iPad, iPhone, iPod etc.. and that will list and display the images/files stored in the file server. so you can access them on the device.

It can be accessed through our wireless network in the office, or through the internet.

Now the printing side of that may be a little harder.

I'd kill for a network browsing app though. so I can view the network shared folders from my device.

Why not wait a few months and see what the new tablets based on the intel and nvidia chips running windows will have to offer. They will be the same OS, and networking and sharing files and folders will be easy.

Hi rclarke can you direct me to any info on these on the web?
