All:
I have a small windows 2000 server/client network setup. I am trying to change the names of some of the pc's on the network and I am running into problems.
On most machines I simply add the Administrator on the network to the local machine and grant to them administrator privledges. Then I go into the System Properties (from right click on my computer) click on the Network Identification tab and then on Properties. In this window I try to change the name of the computer, give the appropriate Admin ID and Password on the network etc...
On 50% of the machines this change happens without any problems, however on the rest I get the following error:
The following error occured attempting to rename the computer to "Library":
The credentials supplied conflict with an existing set of credentials.
I am using the Network Admin ID and Password after adding the same to the local machine as a Admin?
Any ideas??? I am sure it is something simple I will slap myself for later. Screach.....the sound of your world coming to an end at the sight of the dreaded BSOD!
