Network Groups - Novice Questions

I’m trying to teach myself (a very green novice) about network groups.
Can anyone recommend an NTP that will tell me everything I want to know about network groups?
My questions are…
1. What are network groups?
2. What is the function of network group?
3. What circuit cards/shelves make up a network groups?
4. How many groups can I have on a cs1000 release 5.5?
Any other information on this topic is welcomed.

1. Network Groups is where all your TDM functionality either resides or is extended out to IPE shelves. A network Group consists of a Shelf 0 and 1. Time slots are allocated into segments within the network group

3. You can will have 3PE Cards, CNI Cards and either IGS or Fiji cards that make up the network groups along with clock controllers
4. You can have up to 5 network groups with IGS or 8 with Fiji if memory serves me.

An Option 51 is a 1/2 network group, an option is a full network group and an Option 81 is, well, multiple network groups. Network groups also make up you r loop assignments. For example

Network Group 0 Shelf 0 is loops 0 thru 15
Network Group 0 Shelf 1 is Loops 16 thru 31
Network Group 1 shelf 0 is loops 17 thru 47

And so on. Hope this helps, kinda confusing if you haven't had any formal training.
