Hello, I have a network domain controller called abc.com. I have setup users through Active Directory, and now I would like to create folders on the server for the companies use. I encompass everything in the C:\Internal directory of the server. In there I have the folders Offices, Managment, and Staff. Under staff I have the folders bmurphy, jsmith, and djohnson, etc.
The problem is that once I share the folders they don't keep the servers directory structure when viewing the server from a client computer.
If I go to "My Network Places", "Entire Network", "Microsoft Windows Network", "abc", "internalserver", I can see all of the shared folders. I would like to have it work just like a normal computer .. ie ... it should show "Internal", and if clicked on will show "offices", "Managment", and "staff", and if "staff" is clicked on it should show the staff directories. Is that possible?
I know if I share only "Internal", the above senario would work, but I need to set permissions on the subdirectories, therefore I think I need to share the subdirectories also, so I can set the permissions.
Any advise would be appreciated.

You can hide shares by adding $ at then end of the share. So they won't show up in your browsing list, but you can still attach to them using \\DC1\JoeSmith$

Thanks ReddLefty, that is what I wanted, although now I have another problem that hopefully is also an easy fix...

All of the staff are part of an Active Directory "Staff" group. I am sharing the top directory (Internal) with the permission of "read" to the Staff group. It appears that any subdirectories of "Internal" inherit the permissions of the parent directory, but is it possible to override the permissions?
For instance, in the Internal->Staff directory, all of the staff have their own directory, and I setup those directories so that they are shared (with the name$), and permissions are set so only they have access to their directory (so bmurphy has full access to the bmurphy directory, but none of the other staff directories). The problem is that when a staff member logs in, they can also view files in other staff members directories. I think it's because it is all encompased by the "Internal" directory, and all staff have reading rights. Is there a way around this? As you can tell, I've never setup an office server before.
