network cable is unplugged

i try to conect my pc to a home network... but no matter waht i do i get the message "network cable its unpluged"... in my pc but the other pc has the message "network connection its unavalible" i switch the network cards to se if both works buts the same messages y try change the cable too... its something im my pc that maybe are disabled???

Are these two computers connection through a hub, switch or router, or directly to each other?

If connecting directly to each other you need what is called a cross-over cable. A regular straight-thru patch cable will not work, and give you the errors you are seeing.

yup... i make an cross-over cable... there are conected point to point.... maybe i have some property disabled in my pc???

Most cables available now are connected to network cards that use only pins 1,2,3,6 where pins 1 and 2 are a transmit pair and pins 3 and 6 are a receive pair. (For crossover connections one conenctor will have the pairs switched.) The color pairs generally used are green with green/white and orange with ornage/white. Intel calls it the TX standard. Intel also describes a newer T4 standard where all 4 pairs of wires are used. That is the method used by newer 100Mb cards and probably also the fast gigabit network adapters just now becoming affordable.

On my XP at home, I've noticed that simply removing the network connector causes the "Network cable is unplugged" warning to appear. So getting this message means the signal is not getting through. If another cable does not fix this, don't forget to go to Control Panel / System / Hardware and make sure the LAN is configured with a working driver.
