Hi,

just a quick question,

lately we are having proble with our network mainly our internet,

for example it shows the the network cable is unplugued in my windows taskbar, but it's not i check the back and the switch box and it's fine, and others computers too, and then work fine again minutes later, has been on and off.

Do you know what could be the problem?
do you know how can i check if a switch is working or not?
what happened is a our internet stop working and tried many things until i run a cable from a our gateway (routher) and connected to a hub and the internet is back but if i connected to the 16port switch it won't work do you know what could be the problem?

Thanks

sounds like the switch is dying - why not replace it?

Thanks for the reply,

we never thought the switch was dyeing, because we just bought it a month ago.

thanks again

Check your cables and ensure they are working properly. Like try another cable even though you used that one for the direct link. If it turns out to be the switch it should still be under warranty, contact the maker and get an rma to replace it.

Had a very similar problem recently with a 1Gb switch. Would you believe just out of warranty! It was binned and replaced. Out of interest I took the lid off and found the capacitors in the in-built PSU were bulging horribly. Replaced the capaitors and 5 minutes later I have a spare 1Gb switch tested and fully operational in the workshop.
