On a small network, in order to see other computers at all, I must reset my "network address" under the advanced configuration of my network card, by putting in a value and then taking it out; i.e. putting something in as a value, and then removing, it by clicking not present. Only then can I see the network and the internet through the gateway. Bizarre. what is wrong with this picture? If I shut down and reboot with everything working, unless I reset the network address, I cannot see the net, ethernet or internet. or Ping anything other than my own address. any suggestions?
