I am trying to install NWC 4.90 on a new PC with XP-PRO.
Everything went well except when I reboot the pc, it cannot find the Server (5.1). I can't even ping it. The other pcs that are on win98 (NWC 3.2) have no problem with the server.
Any other suggestions, please?

Thanks

Get SP1a for that 4.90 client, to start with...

Try typing the IP Address of the server into the Server field under advanced, then try logging in

Just checked. It is SP1a.
I have also typed in the Server name and tree and also the context and various combination of that without any luck.
Just to try something different. I hook up an old server with Netware 3.2 that use IPX and the newt pc found it.
When I look at the NW client properties, it is set for IP, preferred which is what it should be.

Any other suggestions, please. Thanks

Check the frame type. I know it's a long shot, since you're using IP, but, maybe there is some IPX left on your network?

Is the PC actually getting an IP Address from DHCP? It would seem strange that the PC cannot even ping the server and this would suggest an IP configuration problem.

The setup by default configure both IP and IPX, and IP is the preferred mode, so to speak.

The pc is NOT getting and IP address from the DHCP.
I suspect that is my problem, but I did not know how to rectify that problem.
