NetWare backup from Windows B'stor 11.1

We backup multiple NetWare servers (NW5.1 SP6) from Windows (normally 2000 server but some 2003) using Brightstor 11.1 (build 3105) & associated NetWare agent. On a fairly regular basis, the Windows server fails the backup (usually a "failed to receive data from agent" error) but the NetWare Agent thinks the job is still running.

Can anyone suggest a cause/fix (at the moment, the only way out is a boot of the NetWare box as I've been unable to stop the job or unload the Agent)

Update netware to a more current patch level, update the NWAgent patch level accordingly as well.

Unfortunately, with 200+ NW servers around the world and an imminent project to switch to Windows (not my idea) there's no money for the work involved in testing & applying a later operating system service pack. The "powers that be" won't let us run different levels of the OS on different boxes, so not an option unfortunately.

Any other thoughts?
