Here's the deal...I have a netware 6 server which does our DNS it has been working just fine, but just the other day we ran into an issue where we were not able to get to the site we can get there via IP (216.147.102.86) but we cannot get there via hostname therefore somewhere down the line dns is not working and it's only for this website thus far. Don't kill me for this but if we use our window dns box we can get to the site just fine with dns but the netware box isn't locating it with dns. Any ideas?

As always, thanks

I would imagine that you are not hosting this address, Did you try seeing if the DNS address that the Novell server is using is having the problems?

What I mean is that the Novell server is going to use the outside DNS server for addresses that it can't resolve so either add more DNS servers to the Novell server.

on the properties of the dns server - check the forwarder adress

I hate it when people pull the "It works on my Windows server" B.S. There has got to be a problem with the way your Novell server is querying the upstream DNS servers. Sometimes ISP services will change their DNS servers without telling you. Make sure you are using the correct ones.

Besides, it works just fine on MY Novell DNS server. :)

Try "nslookup" on both servers to see if the server itself is able to find the address.
