After installing a Netgear wireless card, I installed the drivers and utility by following the screen wizard. When I get to the choice of letting Netgear's utility use its full functions it asks if I want to shut down Windows XP Home Editions controls to hook up to the home network (Linksys). I must choose yes or no. I have found however that either choice restarts the computer, and once it's up, the same choice dialogue box pops up. No matter how many times you choose or which choice you choose, the machine re-starts and the choice box reappears. It is quite an annoyance. You can't get rid of the box. All other functions of the computer seem fine until a choice is made. Does anyone know how solve this problem? sp2 was downloaded on this system....

Then next time that it reboots try right clicking on the wireless Network Connection Icon next to the clock.

Click on View Availible Wireless Networks then click on Wireless Connection Properties (at the bottom left).

Then the Netgear cards Wireless Network Property Box should appear.

Next click on the Wireless network tab and the uncheck the Use Windows to configure my wireless network settings.

Then ok out of the properties box.
Yes on that message box that you keep getting.

It should still reboot. Hopefully Removing that Message.

If not I would suggest to unistall and then reinstall the utility disk. (You don't need the utility to run your wireless but it is easier then using the windows configure). Hope that Helps

I followed the steps from MTech04 and message box disappeared, but now the e-machine has gone into a continuous reboot which I cannot prevent. There is a flash just before the McAfee Security Center finishes loading, and then is reboots itself. I don't have time to stop anything. Any clues...the computer no longer can be used.

Have you tryed safe mode "keep hiting F8 just before windows start booting" if you can get it to boot up in safe mode, Go to add remove programs and remove your netgear software.
Try to boot up normal again if ok go back and install netgear hardware, but don't install the netgear control software just put the cd in if it needs for drivers. Let windows control the the setup. There could be new software service pack 2 type check the netgear www. site. I have had trouble when I tryed to use a full install of software on wireless card, I found it let trouble to let windows control it.
