Guys,

I have a smoothwall corp. server running a VPN.

I also have a Netgear FVL328 vpn router, I am basically trying to create a tunnel from the netgear to the smoothwall, I notice that the authentication methods on the smoothwall (ESP and AH) and the netgear (MD5 and SHA-1)

Does this mean that I cannot connect to the smoothwall because the authentication is different? I think so, but I might be wrong?

Thanks,

Luke

Did you ever get the 2 to connect? I am currently faced with a FVS318 (which I gather is similar to the FVL328) and a smoothwall fw. The idea is to create a LAN-to-LAN between the two and my first port of call was tek-tips naturally. If I find any information I will let you know. Do you have any documentation?

Cheers

Hi mate,

I never persisted with it, instead I bought another smoothwall and sorted it out that way.

on another note, if you create the certificate authority on the smoothwall and another client certificate for the netgear router (what version of smoothie are you using? corporate server 3?) then you should be able to login to the netgear router, and import the generated certificate that the smoothwall created.

see how you go, ask away.

Luke

p.s. remember to always read the VPN logs, they are more than useful.
