I am trying to setup RMAN on Oracle 10g with Netbackup 5.1 on Solaris 9?.Any pointers are appreciated.

You must have forward and reverse name resolution. I also have seen that many dba's request to be able to control the scheduling of backups via cron and user directed schedules open for 24 hours. This is not necessary but it helps in political situations.
