NetBackup 4.5 Datacenter Licensing

Hi there,

how is NB 4.5 DC licensed? Do I need a License for backing up and restoreing databases like exchange or DB2? Do I need a license for every client?

You will need a license key for the Database Agents and clients. You do not have to install a license key on the clients as the master server license key knows how many clients are in the license.

We are considering going to Netbackup on our new Dell FC600 SAN with a 136T LTO200/400 library. Does anybody have similar hardware? We would like to be able to back up Snapclones to tape on a differential basis. Any gotchas involved?

You license structure is similar to:

Master License
Licence for every tape device.
License for every robotics control.
Server license depending on O/s and CPU's (Tier)
License for each databse you want backed up - Also dependant on O/s and Tier.
