net:ssh2 question

I was wondering if there was a way to run more than one command without closing a session on a switch? I am using channels currently and it works for only one command. I have also tried using the shell as suggested but there is no shell on the switch so that did not work. Is there another command that I can open a session and keep it open till I tell it that I would like to close it in Net::SSH2?
