We've installed net-snmp on our FC4 server in order to untilize the snmpd daemon with our network monitoring application.

It appears that if I do a mib walk and then explore the tree the first walk completes successfully but any subsequent dump of an OID comes back with an error.

When I restart the snmpd service the failure shows an error and the start up is fine.

Again, I can now query the OID but the next query will fail and the process starts all over again.

Any thoughts much welcome.

Just a thought, check to see if the snmpd dies on the first call. That might explain subsequent failures.
You might also like to look at the log files and maybe to increase the verbosity of the logging.
