Hi,

I have window XP professional. For some odd reason I had to unistall the Net Meeting from my computer. I used the following command:

RunDll32 advpack.dll,LaunchINFSection C:\WINDOWS\inf\msnetmtg.inf,NetMtg.Remove

Now I am trying to install it again but the system would not let me install it.

Can someone please tell me how to do this?

Thanks in Advance.

I believe:

. Start button, run, conf
That should reinstall Net Meeting.

. sfc /Scannow
will do the job. And the repeat the first step above.

I tried to do

Start > Run > Conf

It comes back with error message that cannot open this program. I didnt understand what you meant by ". sfc/scannow"

Can you please explain.

Thanks,

Kchaudhry

You will need your installation CD.

Start button, Run, is just an easy way to access the Windows Command shell.

. "conf" without the quotes, runs conf.inf, the Net Meeting installation program. "sfc /Scannow" runs the Windows File Checker routine

In both cases you will need to insert into your CD drive the XP CD.

Thanks for the quick response. I will try this in the morning.

I appreciate your help.

Ok, I tried your suggestion but that didnt work. I running
"sfc /Scannow" I tried to run "conf". It still comes back and says the system was unable to find. Please make sure you have the name typed correctly.

Any other suggestions?

Thanks,

Ok, I found the solution. I had to get the file msnetmtg.inf and install that file with my Windows XP CD.

Thanks for your help.

Odd it was not there to begin with, or that sfc /Scannow would have missed it.

One other possiblity, a "hidden" gem, is Winchat. linney has often recommended this program in the Forum for LAN chat usage.

See:
It is a "native" XP feature as well, and serves a very usefull function.
