ive used this command "net computer \\pc01 /add" in domaincontroller to add pc01 to domain. now i restarted the pc01 but in the login screen i can only see "username" "password" boxes but no "log on to" box. And also i tried to log on using a domain user account, but i cannot..any idea.

That command just creates the computer account in the domain. You still need to go to the workstation and join it to the domain.

but if i go to client pc and just join it to domain, i dun need to again go to server and create a computer account isnt it?

if you add the client pc to the domain and successfully added it, then you don't have to do anything to the server.
this applies if you have access rights to the server. naturally, if you ahve then you dont have to do anything to the server iteslf, just add the client pc then restart. then look at the "computers" at the AD then you'll see that the pc client you added si there AUTOMATICALLY. thats it.
