I need to set up some sort of Out of band access to our remote sites. I would like to set up a terminal server that I can dial into and then reverse telnet into multiple devices. Is it possible to do this with a Cisco switch and if so what model would be the best for this? The devices that will be managed are all Nortel switches. At my old job we did this all the time, but I only used them and have never been involved in setting one up. Any advice/ideas are appreciated.

This is possible using a Cisco router and a NM-16A module (gives you ability to manage 16 devices), or a NM-32A (32 devices), I think a 2610 would probably work out best for you. You can set it up with an Ethernet port out on the Internet, and SSH to it, and you can also attach a modem to the AUX port.

you might be able to find an old, rock-solid AS2511-rj out there, probably dirt-cheap. 16 async ports in a fixed config on a sub 400 buck box.
