Hi All,

I was just given a old computer that was running windows 95. I ran fdisk and then did a format. I then added a 2'nd hard drive to the first. They are set as master and slave on the primary controller. Both drives are different sizes.
The first drive is a Seagate and the second drive is a western digital. The problem is that both drives are being detected in the bios as the same size. (1.6 mg)

I am thinking that I must need to flash the bios, but have been unable to find where to get the bios upgrade from.

The main board is a Intel 82430VX

The bios is a Award Modular Bios v4.51pg

Can someone please tell me where to download the flash bios from. (If that is what you all think that I need to do)

Thanks for all your help.

And thanks to all who support this forum.

Did you try manually setting the sizes? Mfg web sites generally have cyl, head, and sector info handy. You could be having ID problems.
BTW , did they identify correctly for Mfg? Ed Fair

Hi Ed.

Wow! Thanks for the fast reply. It looks like I finally got it figured out. The hard drives in the bios were set at "user" instead of auto. After I set them to auto the bios correctly detected the size of each drive.

Thanks for your help.
