i am in a network and say sql server is running in one of the machine on the network and i want to add myself to the sql sever, h to find the machine and add user in that server
1. Open Enterprise Manager.
2. Right-click on the SQL Server Group, and choice "New SQL Server Registration" from the menu.
3. Accept the guidance of the wizard.
4. Choose the SQL instance from the dropdown window.
5. Pray you have administrative rights to the instance.
6. Oh, you're not a user. You don't have rights to connect to the instance; you need to contact the SQL Admin for that instance and request to be added.
7. If you are an admin, and are allowed to connect to the instance, you should be a member of a domain group that the admin has wisely added to the logins (instead of managing users individually).
There are some very, very good reasons for SQL server security on the network. Your request is one of them.
