Recently acquired an IBM 320 server with Netware 3.12 and third party software loaded. Server will boot to "ready for workstations to logon" but will not load application software because sys volume is not large enough.

I know the server was used for 2 years with these volume settings, why did working system stop working? Second question is: How do you fix it?

Hi, Bill500

OK so I presume you can log into the server from a workstation as a supervisor equivalent. Also it sounds like Netware has successfully mounted SYS, so you should be able to map a drive to SYS from the workstation.

Since the configuration was working in the past, likely something has exhausted disk space on the SYS volume, so the first step would be to free up some disk space and then down the server and bring it back up and see if that enables the apps to run.

Since SYS is involved, things like runaway print jobs or log files can eat up the free space pretty quickly, so check any print queues etc.

Best regards
Jock
