Need to convert a text string to date for sorting

I posted this in the CR Formula Forum, but I really need and answer, so I am posting it here also.

I have a text log that shows the date and time as:
[19/Mar/2001:08:00:06 -0600]

Now I need a formula to convert the date so it can be sorted.

DateTimeValue (number or string)
