Need to change IP range

Inherited a new client who has an illegal (90.x.x.x) IP address range. I want to change this to a 10.x.x.x range. What problems am I going to encounter?

This is a single-server location with Exchange Server 2003 in the same box as windows 2003 server.

Any thoughts will be appreciated!

The IP range 90.x.x.x is not necessarily "illegal". This is simply a routable range of IP addresses. If it's used in a LAN that is in no way connected to any routing outside of the LAN, then it's perfectly "legal".

You're right, legal may not have been the best word choice.

The question remains though, I can change IP addresses for routers, print servers, PCs and the server - but is there anything I should be looking out for in relation to the Win2k3 server and Exchange server?

I had to change the IP subnet for a site. It wasn't difficult but you have to have a very detailed plan of action to make sure you don't miss anything. DHCP Scope, Outlooklients if you are using IP address instead of Exchange Server Name, IP address in the printers and the print servers, any Fax/copier/scanner/printers on the network. The most important factor for Exchange Server is DNS. You have to delete the existing zone and create a new zone for the new IP subnet. Remember Default Gateway and DNS settings on the clients have to be changed if you are not using DHCP, and Proxy setting (if used) in Internet Explorer. In other words, make a list of every place you know IP addresses are used and make a check list so you don't miss anything. Then after you make the changes be prepared to answer a number of help calls from users who have trouble because something was missed. (-:
