We are trying to go to an automated backup. We currently have HP Proliant W2K Server and a Quantum M1500 tape library. Will Backup Exec fully automate the backup process (manage media pool, autoload, mount, dismount, eject, etc.)? I'm kinda new to this and don't understand exactly what is needed.

thanks!

Yes, Veritas supports "Robotic" libraries if you choose to during installation.

The base autoloader support may be all you need if you just want to automate the mount/unmount process. If you have heavier concerns about your library or the size of your backups you may also want to look into the Library Expansion Option that they offer as an optional purchase.

I would also recommend the Advanced Open File Option (AOFO), the Intelligent Disaster Recovery (IDR) Option and any appropriate agents that you may need (for RDBMS, Exchange, etc...)

Hope this helps.
