Gents;

I am charged with configuring a new remote branch office with <10 users plus 5+ printers with full wireless.
I was planning on using Cisco 350 AP in the ceiling with an omni dome ceiling count antenna. However, for clients I have a problem.
The PC's on the counter (this is a bank( will be mounted under the counter so the signal will be awful. Therefore, I was thinking a USB client that could sit up on the counter for line of sight to the omni. Cisco doesn't make a USB version (Cisco has the 802.1x/EAP encrption). So I thought - 35x PCI cards with an external antenna. Well, they don't make low-profile PCI cards either.

Does anyone know of any equipment models that would fit our needs here? I've pretty much exhaused my searching on the web.

Ideas please?

Thanks
Bob

I'm not entirely sure I understand your problem, the cisco PCI cards won't fit in your equipment? Can you stick a PCMCIA carrier in and then put the regular PCMCIA cards in? I'm not sure why your choice for wireless. If you have connectivity to the bank counter via wireless (such as a bridge) could you then put a mini switch in and serve all your workstations and printers at the counter? I guess for the size of this LAN, there must really be some reason for not just putting in some wire.

Avaya Orinoco PCMCIA cards have antenna ports, and little desk top antennas one could use, but then you lose the Cisco encryption/authentication benefits. Maybe you could describe a little more of why you need wireless and why the PCI cards won't work for me?

It is only my opinion, based on my experience and education...I am always willing to learn, educate me!
