Need info on h.323 or SIP

We are about to upgrade from 25.14 to S4.0

Can anybody confirm that the new software gives me the ability to use h.323 and/or SIP to softphones. Currently ise i2004 off an ITG line card.

yes you can use h.323 for internal protocol, and i don't know if sip is an option on that rls

Just to pick your brain a littlew more. My current config is:

Opt 11c
ITG Line 3.0
24.14

Planning to upgrade to S4, keep the Opt 11c and ITG Line 3.0.

Will this still give me either h.323 or SIP.

Both are supported on 4.0 but you will continue to use H.323 for your ITG card, however, line side will be handled by a signalling server and trunk side will be handled by your converted ITG card converted to a Media Gateway card.

SIP will be used more for internal signalling between a 1000M and an MCS 5100 for tighter integration. SIP will also be the signalling used between the 1000E and the 1000T.

3rd party SIP phones will not have the same feature set as the i2XXX phones.

If you just upgrade the software only you will remain an Option 11C. If you upgrade hardware and software it becomes a 1000M cabinet the Signaling Server is included. You can remain an 11C using ITG, but the Signaling Server can support up to 1000 IP sets, where your ITG realistically only can support between 60 and 90 sets per card depending on traffic.

SIP are keycoded values and avaliable on CSE 4.00 with signaling server only not on ITG.

You may order either, but H.323 is needed for ITG.
