I'm trying to find out how to connect my CDROM up for digital audio extraction. There is a port in the back of the CDROM unit for a lead, but I don't have a lead, and even if I did I don't know where to connect it to! I read somewhere that DAE bypasses your soundcard ... does this mean that you connect the lead from your CDROM to somewhere on the motherboard instead?

Please help ... my current CD ripping speed is 0.9x (because I don't know how to set the DAE feature correctly) and it's driving me up the walls!!

Need a bit more info from you here. However as far as I know you only need your IDE cable-CDROM to get a perfect digital copy of a CD!

rgstewart.

If you're just going ot copy th eCD to your PC and then maybe burn another copt then dont worry about the adittional lead, if you want o plug a CD in and just listen to it liek a standard CD player then the lead is required.

It goes from the port in the back of your CD-Rom to either a matching port on your sound Card or one on the MoBo if you hav eintegrated sound. The leads are dead cheap from any reasonable PC store.
