Need Help With Command Key Barcodes

I am having trouble! I need to be able to recreate the keystrokes CTRL+I in barcode format. I am very familiar with the ZPLII Zebra printer language, and I am sending the commands to the printer directly in HEX format -- BUT NOTHING IS WORKING!! Can someone please steer me down the correct path? How does one represent command keys like CTRL and even Insert in barcode format? Please help.
