Need help with buttons forms and popups.

Hi,

I have been sent off by my boss to reproduce a webpage that is dynamiclly generated by a weired webserver. Anyhoo, what I need to do is to pop-up a window containing a list of choices for a user to click on. Now I have worked out how to pop up the window and even how to pass data back from the window into the form...the problem I have is that I need to pass the contents of a 'text' input to the new window when I click a button.

Can anyone point me in the right direction as to how I might achieve this?
