I need help configuring SIP trunks on an Avaya IP office v8. I have received some settings from Gamma for the service but our telephone line provider cannot help to configure the Avaya IP Office. Does anyone have sample configuration you can share that is similar to my scenario below
Sonicwall firewall in front of Avaya to NAT the Avaya LAN IP to the public IP of the Sonicwall
So I have the following issues with the setup
1. When an external call comes in, it rings on the extension but when answered both parties can't hear each other and the line cuts out after about 20 seconds
2. When an extension calls an outside line, the phone says Call Rejected

I have been through a lot of posts here and some suggests Gamma require a STUN some says it doesn't. I can't get support from Gamma because am not a direct customer
I definitely do not want to put the IPO on the public IP so it has to work behind a firewall
So if you have similar setup and willing to share that would be great. Any comment or recommendation greatly appreciated too

I definitely do not want to put the IPO on the public IP so it has to work behind a firewall
That is a Good start!

the problem is probably that the IPO is sending its Private IP address not its public one, this needs experimenting in the Lan topology to get correct.
A stun server should work but can be problem as Gamma do not run one so you have to locate a reliable public Stun server.
you should also be able to specific the Public IP address manually but that sometimes causes problems.

it seems to me that no 2 are ever quite the same :-(

Another option is to use an SBC

Do things on the cheap & it will cost you dear

Any idea how do make the IPO send its Public IP? Is it in the ARS, LAN1->Network Topo (Only LAN1 is used by IPO, SIP Line, User's SIP tab?

On the Network Topology tab of the LAN port you are using, blank out the STUN Server Address, set Firewall to Unknown, enter your Public IP address, set the Public UDP/TCP ports to 5060

On the Transport tab of the SIP line, select the LAN port for the Use Network Topology drop down.

touchtonetommy thanks: when I followed that, I get an error Network Topology is set to LAN. The STUN server IP Address cannot be 0.0.0.0(default)

I get the same error all the time, but that's the configuration we use for Skyetel SIP trunks and it works every time. You can put the address in there and don't actually run STUN, see if that makes it happy

Thank you both - (TouchToneTommy & TheSmash) entering the number even though it wasn't used got rid of the error message and incoming and outgoing calls coming loud and clear - cheers
