Hello Everyone,
First I would like to thank the creators of these forums! This is my first post and I hope I can get some help. I just started as a Lvl 3 Help desk and my first assignment was to really setup the backup schedule from scratch. I have never used Arcserv before and finding a how to book is non existant.

I got the beckup schedule down to the way I like it, but they would like to have a tape to tape copy of the prior nights backup to send off site.

Right now I have just plain old full backups happening everynight Mon-Sun on Slots 1-7. I would to copy each nights backup to slot 10 after the nights normal backup. Is there anyway of doing this where as I do not have to change any parameters each and every day?

Arcserv is running in a Windows Domain on WIN Server 2003. Any help would be areally appreciative fellas.

1) "how to book" is on the CD
2) go to and register as a new user.
3) my esp is not working very well tonight so I am not able to pick up which version of ARCserve is being used or how many tape drives there are in the library. So instead of specific advice here are some general ideas.
If you have two tape drives then you can use tape RAID level 1 to automatically make two copies.
If you have only one tape drive then the backup will have to be done to a FSD File System Device and then to two tapes. That is provided you are not using a really old version of ARCserve which did not support FSD.
Tapecopy.exe can be used to copy from a FSD to tape drive or from a tape drive to another tape drive.
If you are using a later version of ARCserve then the ARCserve Job Scheduler can be used to run a ca_devmgr tapecopy job. Online help covers the parameters.
