Need help on RS/6000 server with AIX 3

I have been assigned to bring up a old RS/6000 Server. It is a Type 7012 it was installed with Ver 3 of AIX.<br><br>The problem now is we have no idea of the root password and we dont have the Tape with which we installed the system.<br><br>Can some one help me find a way to use this machine.<br><br>Regards<br><br>V.Peter Vijayan

Try installing a new version of AIX, V4.3.3 CDs are US$50 only!

If you have a mksysb (system backup) or CD of the same version, you could boot into maintenance mode and reset root passwd.<br><br>You might also need a System Management Services Diskette with that model in order to change the bootlist.&nbsp;&nbsp;Otherwise you could just do a new install.&nbsp;&nbsp;But you still may need to change the bootlist to CD or tape. <p>Doug Tyre<br><a href=mailto: > </a><br><a href=
