Ok a little background. I have a terminal server and an application server in an office I manage. Since I set up the terminal server, I get 8021 and 8032 BROWSER service errors around 9AM and again around 4PM every day. AppServ is the master browser, and TermServ is the backup browser These errors say (para-phrased) TermServ has tried 5 times to contact AppServ, and then TermServ has failed to retrieve the backup list from AppServ to many times, backup browser is stopping. So, I installed netdiag and dcdiag on the terminal server and passed, but there are a few things I don't understand. I'll post the excerpts from the netdiag below. There are no outright failures, but it looks as if my problem has to do with NetBIOS being bound to the browser service through NetBIOS over TCP/IP or something of that sort. I don't use WINS in my network, can I go in to the local area connection advanced properties and uncheck "Use NETBios over TCP/IP"?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

What type of entries have you made on your WINS server for those computers that have a static IP?

Start, Help. You'll be surprised what's there. A+/MCP/MCSE/MCDBA

There is no WINS used in my network, we have no WINS server at all. All machines have static IP addresses, no DHCP is used either. We do browse the local network by computer name though.

Is your DHCP passing out your domain name? and, very important, do you have more than one subnet?

Start, Help. You'll be surprised what's there. A+/MCP/MCSE/MCDBA

Um.. There is no DHCP used anywhere in the network, this server with the error may not have the service disabled though.. Just checked.. The service isn't disabled, but there is no DHCP{ server set up no scopes defined, etc. And no, we have 1 subnet. Well.. We have a domain and a workgroup, but all the IPs are on the same subnet. We also have several wireless routers, but again, all the clients use static IPs and are on the same subnet.

here's what I've got. ASERVER is the PDC, GC server, DNS, and Aplication server, BSERVER is just a backup for DNS and AD. Also, I just realized that ASERVER and BSERVER are both set up as WINS servers, but there apears to be no clients listed in either, they are configured to replicate with each other, and it looks like the listings for ASERVER and BSERVER and the domain are the only entries present. TSERVER is an AD terminal services machine with some apps for the TS users.

BSERVER and TSERVER have 1 network card. ASERVER (this one I ran browstat on) has two, although one of them is diabled. and uninstalled in device manager. Everytime the server reboots, I get a new hardware found wizard that I just cancel out. ASERVER's mobo has a built in NIC, and we've put in a 10/1000 NIC to take advantage of our gigabit switch.

OK.. Well, as I said, the main server does in fact have 2 network cards, one is built in to the MOBO and one is a gigabit intel card. I have the mobo NIC disabled.
