I have a document and would like to insert some pictures. I am able to insert pictures with approximately 30Kb with medocre resolution inside the alloted frame.

How can I get a higher resolution picture within that same alloted frame? When I insert a larger file, 100Kb for example, the picture is larger and it is there but I only see the portion of the picture through the window frame size. To see the remainder of the picture I must move the picture around within that small frame size.

If I am unclear, let me know and I will try to explain in more detail.

Thanks

You need to do a "fit Picture to Box" command:

Windows Ctrl-Shift-F

Apple Command-Shift-F

This will keep the picture in proportion and you may then have to drag the handles of the bounding box to fit exactly.

Here's a usefull link ( there are many out there ) for keyboard shortcuts:

You can only reduce the image to 10% of it's original size though. Anything smaller than that and you will need to resize it in an image editor first.

Bear in mind also that large images that are reduced down in Quark are still large images. Consequently they will take longer to print and occupy more disc space. If you have do resize below 60-75% then it's more efficient to do so in an image editor before importing into Quark.
