Need help editing PDS file in CS2

How do I edit text in a PDS file? When I click on the layer of the text, of the three icons - 'Embed', 'Edit original', and 'Live Trace' - only 'Live Trace' is active.

Would that be a PSD file (A Photoshop native file)?

Yes, a PSD file...and if you'd like to email me I can show you the file and you can see what I'm talking about. Apparently, the file was created to be editable.

...text can be edited from a PSD file in Illustrator as long as no fancy effects have been used when created in Photoshop, or rasterized in photoshop before saving to PSD...

...ensure you have selected 'convert photoshop layers to objects' in the open dialogue from Illustrator, if it is not allowing you to edit the text then you will have to open it in Photoshop to make edits...
