I have used the TransferSpreadsheet command before, but I always imported directly into a new table. I now have a situation where I need to import random columns of information that may have different heading names directly into an existing table with defined field names and types. I would prefer not to import to a temporary table but will if I have to. Has anyone done anything like this before? If so, can you give me an idea as to how it was done?

Hi Titusman,

I was just learning how to do something similar to this myself. Although I'm not positive, the DAO object system seems to allow a more flexible solution to importing data to Access. (I.E. you can specify exactly which fields you want to import from your spreadsheet to your table--and your spreadsheet and table need not directly correspond.)

I found this sample code useful in getting me started--it runs from excel, so it may not be exactly what you need, however...

Good luck,
Jane

Thanks for the help. I will definitely give it a try.
